To my sweet Kenna on your first birthday.

Kenna Morgan Gingue born 7:37pm on May 8, 2018

Dear Kenna,

It's nearly impossible for me to believe that an entire year has passed since you entered this world.

12 months.
52 weeks.
365 days.

All that time has gone by so fast, but at the same time, so slowly.  How you went from an all day sleeping newborn to a crawling scurrying around the house one-year-old is beyond me.

Kenna, 1 day new
At first the days all blended together, when you were little you wouldn't let me put you down for more than 10 seconds without screaming, couple that with round-the-clock feedings and diaper changes and it's no wonder it seemed like time was in fast forward.  Then there were the moments where it felt like time was frozen; the countless times you drifted off to sleep in my arms, your first smile, first giggle, the way you love to suck your thumb while holding onto something soft.

Now when you want to be picked up you reach your arms out and say 'mommy!' and you babble constantly, you hate baby food and just want to eat what's on our plates (toast is a favorite), you light up when you see your older siblings and your eyes are the perfect shade of blue.  Because of two little cowlicks on the top of your head you've had a cute little mohawk since day one and if you smile really big you have a tiny little dimple on your right cheek.

Sweet Kenna, you have added so much joy to this last year and I know it will sound cliche but now that you are here I couldn't imagine life without you.  I don't know why God chose me to be your mother but it is something that I am eternally grateful for and I hope to be the mother you deserve.

Happy First Birthday, Kenna Morgan, my hope for you on this birthday, and all your future birthdays, is that you know how much you are loved.  Never stop smiling, my love, the world is a brighter place because of your toothy grin.

Love Always,
Mom
